Local Shopify experts in Los Angeles

You can hire a Shopify developer from anywhere, and lots of brands do. Here's when having one in LA makes a difference, and when it doesn't.

Your hours are our hours

A question at 10am gets an answer the same morning. A problem on a launch afternoon gets looked at that afternoon, not after an overnight handoff. For stores running time-sensitive drops or sales, that matters more than people expect.

Meet in person if it helps

Most of our work happens over video calls and shared links, and that suits most clients fine. But some conversations go better at a table, especially at the start of a big project or when you want to walk through the store with your team.

The kind of brands we work with

LA has a lot of direct-to-consumer brands

Beauty, skincare, fashion, food and wellness brands are all common here, and many of them sell on Shopify.

Those categories tend to have the same needs. Product pages that explain ingredients, sizing or how to use something. Bundles and subscriptions. Photography that has to look right on a phone. Wholesale or retail partners alongside the direct store.

We've built a lot of this kind of thing for beauty and skincare brands in our portfolio, so we've seen how these stores get used. You can see examples on the Abra work page.

What tends to come up

  • Product pages that answer questions before customers email you
  • Bundles, kits and subscriptions
  • Shade, size or variant pickers that work on mobile
  • Wholesale or retail partners next to the main store
  • Launch and drop pages on short notice

About the studio

Shopify Los Angeles is run by Abra, a small web design and development studio in Los Angeles. Abra is run by Ronen Hirsch, who is both a designer and a developer with over 20 years of experience. Depending on the project he designs it, codes it or directs the team that does, and every decision is made with both sides in mind.

Besides client stores, Abra makes Abra Sections, a Shopify app with ready-made theme sections that earned Built for Shopify status. Building an app for other merchants means we spend a lot of time inside Shopify themes and Shopify's own requirements.

When local doesn't matter

If you're happy working fully remote and your store doesn't depend on fast turnaround, you don't need a local developer. Pick whoever does the best work for your budget. We're glad to be in the running either way, and we work with clients outside LA too.

Working together

What it looks like week to week

  1. A kickoff

On a call or in person, we go through your store, your goals and anything that's been bugging you.

  2. Regular check-ins

Short updates with a preview link, so you can see progress on a test theme without touching your live store.

  3. Quick fixes

Feedback goes in a shared list and gets worked through. No long gaps between rounds.

  4. A clean handover

When it's live, you know how to edit it, and you know who to call if something comes up.
